Current Research and Teaching Roundtable
We invite untenured and non-tenure track scholars in the East Central region to submit brief “roundtable” talks on their current research or on creative teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. We anticipate gathering a group of 6-7 speakers, each of whom will speak for five minutes. We will then open things up for a broader conversation arising from connections amongst the speakers’ comments. We look forward to having a broad variety of topics and approaches represented. Please send an abstract of your proposed comments (maximum 250 words) to Joanne Myers (jemyers “at”gettysburg.edu) by 15 September 2020.
The Aural/Oral Experience
We will have a modified version of have a modified version of our long-running Oral-Aural Experience (OAX), from 7:30 to 9:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd. Thus, our much appreciated membership secretary, Prof. Peter Staffel, is seeking volunteers. to read passages of poetry they love or even of brief prose passages. If you know in advance, PLEASE let him know what you have in mind, so he can construct a sort of program. That said, he has assured us that anyone attending can take the mic and hold forth as well. We’ll see what happens. Please contact Peter Staffel with your reading selection at staffelp “at” westliberty.edu. Heck, songs are fine, too, best when self accompanied.
